Last week, I covered an event at the Dole Institute of Politics that featured the Federal Reserve Bank president and CEO, Robert Kaplan. I had less than 30 seconds to take his portrait. It was one of those "oh boy, here we go!" moments that can certainly elevate a photographer's heart-rate. Here's what I got. (I also added a shot from the lecture, because the Dole Institute is so cool...)
Dole Institute of Politics
I recently made some headshots for the staff at the Dole Institute, in front of the World's largest stained glass flag...(no kidding, it really is the largest in the world). Here's a little behind the scenes iphone shot and then one of the finished photos.
Planned Parenthood Great Plains - The Event
One of my favorite healthcare organizations that I work with is Planned Parenthood Great Plains and I recently covered their biggest fundraiser, The Event. The special guest was Tony Award winner and all around entertainer extraordinaire, Alan Cumming. He put on a cabaret performance that was pretty much out of this world. It was a great event and PPGP raised almost $200,000 that night(thumbs up). I even got a shot of Alan taking a selfie with former Kansas Governor and US Secretary of Health, Kathleen Sebelius. ha.
Spring tearsheets...
The spring issue of Lawrence Magazine has just hit the shelves. I was commissioned to photograph one of the features about a really amazing mid-century modern home, right here in Lawrence, KS. Anyone who knows me, knows that I have a serious obsession with mid-century homes, so this assignment got me all tingly! Have a look!
recent tearsheets..
I got my hands on a copy of the latest annual report for The Merc Co+op, that features some images that I shot for them.
author portraits...
Sunflower Publishing recently commissioned me to shoot some portraits for Lawrence Magazine. It was for an article about Harriet Lerner, psychologist and NY Times best selling author. She lives in a really cool Tudor style house, which made for a sweet location for this assignment and also made my job a lot easier. Here are a couple of images from the session...
mic test...one, two
Here it is, the birth of a blog. I'm not going to dilly dally...time to just blast on in.
I was recently commissioned by Midland Care Connection to do some imaging at their care facility, in Topeka, KS. We started the day off with some headshots for staff members...
After the headshot session, we were off to get images of some of the guests at the care facility. The little lady in the photo below is 100 years old and I can only hope to have her kind of energy if I'm lucky enough to make it to that age. It was a good day, photographer and client happy. I'm definitely looking forward to working more with this fantastic organization...
